Fr. George Mattioni, OAR1921-2006
Today our community attended the funeral of a dear friend and spiritual father, Fr. George Mattioni. As the confessor and spiritual director to several members of our community, Fr. George will be remembered and missed for the kindness, practicality, humor and sound advice he extended to us. He was always available when needed and the counsel and example he gave us always left a remarkable and lasting impression. May he rest in peace!

I was a young physician serving as Director of the Emergency Department at Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield, Ca. during Fr. George's time there. I always looked forward to his visits to the ER and have many fond memories of our serious and our not-so-serious conversations. He had just the right timing and touch for each occasion in the oft stressful pace of a busy ER. I was saddened to hear of his passing. Mike M., West Plains, MO
