Last Sunday, January 6, the Feast of the Epiphany of our Lord, our community gathered together, as has been done for more than 400 years by all the Clerics Regular Minor, to celebrate and renew- as Fr. Americo put it “i nostril santi voti” Our Holy Vows. Fr. Nicholas explained in his sermon that this pious custom of yearly renewing the Vows was officially commenced by our third Founder, Fr. Fabrizio Caracciolo. He also highlighted three keys from the Feast's Gospel applying them to the Order today: The Three Wise Men who symbolize the universality of the Order today, their gifts which represent the talents and contributions of all Clerics Regular Minor and the Star which signifies how we too are called to be light and lead others to Christ, even when all is bleak. To illustrate his last point, Fr. Nicholas mentioned a trying time in the previous century of the Order’s history, when there were only five members left and how these five men did not let their light burn out but were able to revitalize the Order. The evening concluded with benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, supper and recreation (karaoke!)
